Good morning Year 3. Today there is some Maths, English and Computing for you to have a go at. Make sure you upload your work onto Seesaw so that I can have a look at what you have been doing.
Reading Plus and TT Rockstars
Start today by spending some time completing at least one session of your reading plus and some time practising your timetables on TT Rockstars.
We are moving on a little from our timetables to apply our knowledge to some worded problems. Now I know that we won't all be extremely confident with our 3, 4 and 8 timetables just yet so make sure you use the multiplication grid available to help you with the answers. There is a PowerPoint for you to have a look through and to engage with. There is then the main activity which you can choose from (1 star, 2 star and 3 star). Have a look at the 3 levels and choose the level which will challenge you but you won't be struggling to complete.
I have also included the answers so you can self-check and mark to see how well you got on like we sometimes do together in class.
Take a look at this weeks spellings which you will be tested on on Friday. Look at the week 1 spellings and complete the attached spelling pyramid for each word. You do not have to do this directly onto the worksheet itself.
Today we are starting on our new class text called 'Stoneage Boy'. This story links well with our current History topic which is Stone Age through the the Iron Age.
Start by having a look at this picture which is taken from the story itself. Have a look at everything in the picture including the boy who seems a bit out of place in the image. I want you to have a think about what might be happening in the picture and what the boy might be doing there. Type your answers to these questions on the post which I will put on our class blog on Seesaw.
I want you to now take a look at the front cover of our new class story. Using the first image from the text and this front cover, I want you to create a plan of your own story mountain for what this story might be about. I will be uploading a video to Seesaw explaining the story mountain after I discuss it with the children in class. After you have written out your plan, I want you to verbally tell your own version of this story. If you can record yourself doing this then that would be great, upload it to Seesaw.
This activity will give you a chance to use your imagination and create your own story before we read the book for ourselves.
The new topic we are going to start in computing is using Microsoft PowerPoint to create presentations. If you keep an eye out on Seesaw, I am going to record a video of an introduction to using PowerPoint. We will do this in the classroom on Monday morning and get it uploaded to either Seesaw or the school website for you all.
When you have watched it, I want you to create a PowerPoint presentation with a single slide. This slide is going to give some information about something which you are interested in. It should include:
Don't worry ... all of this will be explained in the video which we upload for you.
SORRY YEAR 3. THE VIDEO WON'T UPLOAD SO I HAVE PUT TOGETHER A PRESENTATION TO SHOW YOU THE MAIN INFORMATION THAT WAS IN IT. HOPE THIS HELPS.
