Monday 22nd February

Good morning Year 3.  Today there is some Maths, English and Computing for you to have a go at.  Make sure you upload your work onto Seesaw so that I can have a look at what you have been doing.

Reading Plus and TT Rockstars

Start today by spending some time completing at least two sessions of your reading plus and some time practising your timetables on TT Rockstars.

This week we are starting to look at our measurement unit.  Take a look at the video (link below) and give the attached activities a go.  Keep an eye out for a video input that we will put on Seesaw.

This week, we are going to have a focus on using different homophones correctly.  This is something which is important for you all to think about and it is one of our tick off boxes for our Year 3 Writing Expectations.

Today, you are going to have a look at the homophones: there, their and they're.  By the end of the lesson, you should know when to use each word and be able to spell each homophone correctly.

Take a look at the presentation which is attached below and the two activities which are also below.  Write out the sentences and either underline or use a different colour for the homophone that you choose to use to complete each sentence.  It has been a week since we were working so I want you to get these sentences written to give you a chance to continue working on your handwriting.

As an extension activity, I would like you all to make up your own sentences using there, their and they're.

Give me:

  • 1 sentence containing each homophone (3 sentences altogether)
  • 3 sentences using 2 of the homophones in each sentence (try to use different combinations)
  • 2 sentences which contain all 3 of the homophones.  Try to have a different context for each sentence.

Good luck Year 3!

First week back but I want us to spend another session just looking at another feature which we can use in Microsoft PowerPoint which is using hyperlinks.

Look out for a video which we will post showing you how to create an use hyperlinks.

Once you have watched this video, I would like you to create a quiz using PowerPoint.  Your quiz should consist of different questions which all have multiple choice answers.  You can do this quiz about anything you like.  This could be a hobby or interest of yours but keep it sensible and age appropriate.
