Wednesday 27th January

Good morning Year 3.  Today there is some Maths, English, Science and History for you to have a go at.  Make sure you upload your work onto Seesaw so that I can have a look at what you have been doing.

Reading Plus and TT Rockstars

Start today by spending some time completing at least one session of your reading plus and some time practising your timetables on TT Rockstars.

Maths

We are going to move onto looking at Year 3 material now for using money.  In this lesson, we are going to look at using pounds and pence together.  Take a look at the video (link below) and then give the questions in the main activities a go.

English

Today you are going to move onto to start writing the build up of your story - those events which lead up to the main thing that happens in your story.

The first thing I want you to do though is to look at the writing you produced yesterday and proof read it.  Check what your success criteria was from yesterday and take some time to edit, add to or change anything that you need to change with it.

Once you have edited your writing from yesterday, you are going to write the build up of your story.  This may consist of a few paragraphs which start creating the opportunity for your 'big moment' of your story to happen.  In this part of your story, I want you to focus on describing your characters and trying to include some dialogue/speech in your writing.

Your success criteria is as follows:

  • Capital letters and full stops (writing in sentences)
  • Exclamation marks and questions marks
  • Inverted commas for speech
  • Apostrophes for contractions (remember, speech can be more informal and so gives you chance to use words like don't etc)
  • Adjectives/Expanded noun phrases - describe through actions
  • Conjunctions
  • Writing in paragraphs

Look out for another video where we will do a bit of a shared write for this part of the story.

Science

Today you are going to continue looking more at the different types of rocks.  You are going to first look at how metamorphic rocks are formed.  Use the link below to take a look at the lesson which has been put together on the Oak National Academy website.

History

Today we are going to look at the different periods during the Stone Age.  You will do this by watching and engaging with the lesson which is on the Oak National Academy.  The link to this is below.
