Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to engage, inspire and challenge our pupils, enabling them to be creative and learn with enjoyment and curiosity. We want our children to gain a good understanding of the world through their learning, being aware of the diversity of societies whilst also having a clear identity of themselves in the world.

Our children will be given opportunities to solve problems and be encouraged to take risks in their learning, to become innovative and more confident people developing a real sense of achievement. The curriculum will encourage children to express themselves, ask questions and think critically, whilst deepening understanding across all areas of learning.

Through all teaching our children will develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually ensuring they embed values such as fairness and respect throughout their school life, leaving St Catherine’s as good citizens able to participate fully as a member of society.

The curriculum is taught based around history or geography topics with other subjects linked to this where it is appropriate. English is taught through quality texts linked to these topics where possible. Maths links in some areas and the rest is taught discretely.

Other information about each subject can be found below.
